Statement of Values                                                     Regarding Abortion and Euthanasia

WE, HEREBY AFFIRM OUR COMMITMENT TO THE PROTECTION OF ALL HUMAN LIFE WITH THIS STATEMENT OF VALUES;

FIRST, We believe that God is the author of all life, and when God gives life, it is forever. Every human life, from conception until natural death, is precious in God’s sight and deserving of the utmost respect and protection;

SECOND, We Pledge to speak out against the moral crime of destroying children through abortion, and against the crime of eliminating the elderly, the sick and the disabled through euthanasia;

THIRD, We support the unique value of adoption in God’s eyes as the only morally licit alternative means of relinquishing responsibility of a human life which has been created through our own actions or those which have been willingly or unwillingly forced upon us;

FOURTH, We recognize the importance and value of ecumenical dialogue within Christ’s church in bringing an end to abortion and euthanasia, while retaining our steadfast commitment to our own beliefs as Catholics, as outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church;

FIFTH, We support all peoples in their efforts to bring and end to abortion and euthanasia so long as those efforts do not directly conflict with our beliefs or require us to compromise our own beliefs, specifically in regards to the transcendent dignity of all human life or the sanctity of marriage.
