Co-Founder of 40 Days for Life, Record-Breaking Fundraiser, Television Personality
Shawn Carney is one of the youngest and most inspirational pro-life speakers in America today.
Shawn began in the pro-life movement in college as a volunteer and after college was asked to be the Executive Director of the Coalition for Life.
In 2004, Shawn helped to lead the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in College Station, Texas. This breakthrough initiative – made up of 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, round-the-clock peaceful vigil outside a local abortion center, and grassroots door-to-door outreach – dropped local abortion numbers by 28%.
Beginning in 2007, Shawn helped to expand 40 Days for Life to 337 cities in all 50 American states, six Canadian Provinces, England, Ireland, Australia, and Denmark. His efforts have mobilized more than 400,000 pro-life volunteers over the last three years. 40 Days for Life has confirmed reports of 3,599 mothers choosing life and 43 abortion center workers who have had conversions and left their jobs, including former Planned Parenthood director, Abby Johnson.
Shawn is a regular media spokesperson and his work has been featured on hundreds of media outlets including Fox News, “The O’Reilly Factor”, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times, and Christian media, including The Christian Post, National Catholic Register, Salem Radio, Relevant Radio, EWTN Radio, and Focus on the Family.
Shawn also serves as executive producer and host of the new pro-life television series, “being HUMAN,” which airs in 128 million homes via the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).
Shawn’s experience in local and national pro-life ministry has led him across America, inspiring audiences at pregnancy center events, conferences, fundraising banquets, churches, colleges, and high schools. His passion for helping women and the unborn is contagious.
As a speaker and consultant, Shawn has built a proven track record of helping pro-life organizations raise record-breaking amounts at fundraising banquets – whether it is a group’s first or twentieth banquet.
Shawn lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Marilisa, and two daughters, Bridget and Bailey, who are Irish twins (eleven months apart), and a son, Seamus.

Abortion Survivor
Claire Culwell met her biological mother in March of 2009. Her birthmother told her that her life was a miracle.
Claire's biological mom became pregnant at the age of 13. Her mother took her to an abortion clinic where she had a surgical abortion. A few weeks later she realized she was still pregnant so she found an out-of-state late-term abortion clinic to do a second abortion. At the clinic they informed her she had been pregnant with twins . . .ONE WAS ABORTED; ONE SURVIVED. They said it was too late to do a second abortion. Claire was born 2 weeks later.
Claire was born 2 1/2 months early. She weighed 3 lbs. 2 oz. and was placed on life support. Her hips had been dislocated and her feet were turned inward - all because of the abortion. She was adopted shortly after birth by an amazing family who she wouldn't trade for the world! Claire now tells her story and speaks up for the unborn so that they can receive the same gift of LIFE she has! She shares her story of survival at many churches and pro-life events and was recently featured in an interview with Focus on the Family. Claire's life is a miracle and true testimony that God has plans for each and every person. The only explanation for Claire's survival is God's mercy and love.
